"DEAF PRESIDENT NOW: The Pulse of the People"

During March 1988, a crowd roared "Deaf President Now" on the campus of Gallaudet Unviersity in Washington, D.C. When there was a lingering of doubt that a deaf person could lead the school, a campus revolution erased that doubt and resulted in the appointment of Gallaudet's first deaf president, Dr. I. King Jordan. This exclusive teleconference took place on the tenth anniversary of the day Dr. Jordan was appointed. Moderator Dwight Benedict, dynamic television personality who hosted Gallaudet's first teleconference celebrating the inauguration of President Jordan, introduced a diverse panel of guests, featuring members of Congress, media, private industry and deaf teenagers. Discussions covered topics including empowerment, advocacy, vocation and the DPN Movement's continued resonance in our world today.
