Back Issue: November 4, 2005 | Fred Weiner, special assistant to the president for planning and chair of the University¡¯s Recognition Committee (right of photo), presents the Black Deaf Student Union with a photograph of the bronze bust of Dr. Andrew Foster that is displayed in the lobby of Foster Auditorium. The presentation took place on October 13 during BDSU¡¯s general meeting. Several years ago, the National Black Deaf Advocates commissioned New York sculptor Virginia Cox to make the bust of Foster, a 1954 graduate of Gallaudet and a pioneer in establishing schools for deaf people in Africa, and donated it to the University.
