A new national foreign language honor society
A new national foreign language honor society, Phi Sigma Iota, was installed at Gallaudet College on April 25. Shown at the installation are, from left. President Merrill, new members Patricia Shores, Linda Everett and Rita Tielsch, all from Canada, and George Elliott, Minister Counselor of the Public Affairs Division at the Canadian Embassy, who bestowed gold keys to each member. The installation was presided over by Dr. Rose Marie Marcone of the University of Richmond, who Is regional vice president of the society. Following the ceremony a formal banquet was held. Any Gallaudet student enrolled in advanced foreign language courses and having a B average in all college work (with a B + in foreign language courses) can apply for admission to the society by contacting Louis Townsley, the chapterís faculty advisor.

MSSD at Capitol

Selected exerpts from the MSSD spring production ďA Midsummer Nightís DreamĒ were performed at the Capitol on May 13. Shakespeare's comedy was adapted into sign language by MSSD drama instructor Eric Malzkuhn. The performance was sponsored by Congressman Frederick W. Richmond, 14th District, NY, who is chairman of the Arts Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Old Gym
The peeling paint on Old Gym is currently undergoing analysis to determine the cause of the problem. The contractor will be correcting the situation within the next several months.
